Great people, great food, accessible but authentic: County Wicklow's gateway, in fact ... Smart but also, equally, a friendly place with great food and fabulous service, good for meeting, eating and just being happy. I was here for my Bloomsday birthday, which I usually spend in Dublin. I've been looking for a while for something quieter, but still...M accessible to the city I have to count as my fave of all time. In Newtownmountkennedy I've found a place where a chilled Irish enjoyment is its middle name. It's got a Dunnes and a local grocer's, too; a great couple of coffee places; a lovely hotel in the Parkview; an hourly bus into Dublin town just in front of the same as well as other local services, all amazingly priced; and -- more importantly than any of this -- the Mountkennedy Inn. As I said at the top, it's one of the smartest eateries and pubs I've been in, but it's welcoming too; doesn't make you feel out of place or a stranger in any way; just says "how yer doing", and then professionally takes it from there. Tomorrow I leave Ireland for a bit, but I aim to make Newtownmountkennedy a future base. And I hope at some time not *too* far in the future. County Wicklow and its peoples are ace. Really really grand. Dunno why I hadn't stumbled across this place of clear air with its gentle edge of sharp intake of breath sooner. But now I have.

Birthday celebration great food, music, staff and atmosphere First time to visit and we will be back. Excellent food, lovely staff, great atmosphere, live music and stunning decor. I had the thai red curry which was delicious others in my group had fish, burgers, steak and all were delicious.

Recommended in Newtownmountkennedy Extremely quick service, on a busy Sunday evening. Friendly and attentive staff. Would recommend eating (and drinking) there, next time you’re in Newtownmountkennedy.

Great food and service Was there for dinner this evening with children and very family friendly. Food was great and service prompt. Was very busy but young waitress ( blond girl) nothing was a hassle. Recently upgraded the furniture amazing. Comfy and welcoming atmosphere.

Excellent food and Service Pizza had a thin crispy base with delicious toppings. Service was excellent and friendly. Waiting staff were particularly attentive.

Beef carvery We had the beef carvery which was 15 euro each . We thought when we got our dinner the amount of beef (1 slice each) was a bit miserable but was more than enough after eating it . Can’t share a pic of dinner as...M ate it too fast . Place itself is lovely and cages full of wines looks Lovely

Tasty meal in a friendly venue We were staying in the area when we chose to eat here one night. It was a quiet Tuesday evening and we had plenty of space to eat and maintain a social distance. We weren't asked for our Covid Certs though and we didn't offer...M to show them either. We did feel safe enough considering there were few customers there so held back on that issue. However, I do think it's important to be asked ... point made! We were greeted by a very friendly and obliging waitress. Service was good and prompt. The cajun chicken burger and fries were tasty and served hot. There was a good choice of desserts and coffee was of good quality too. Craft beers are available too. It's a gastropub with good food. We hope to return.

Great pub We recently stayed in Newtownmountkennedy, this pub was a great find. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food; however the drink service was excellent. Service was brilliant and we were made to feel very welcome. Will definitely visit again when we are...M next over.
